What's wrong with traditional e-discovery?

The traditional approach to e-discovery involves a linear, one-directional workflow with multiple software tools, many data movements and click charge costs all the way through. This leads to the following problems:

  • Too many different tools are used, each with a different licensing model and technology platform.
  • Moving data around from one software platform to another increases complexity, time, risk and cost.
  • Transaction fees at every step dramatically inflate costs.
  • There is a cart before the horse problem; You don’t have any real insight into your data before culling decisions are made so, inevitably, the criteria you use to exclude documents are based on assumptions that are not quite right, because the facts are not fully know and the issues are not yet clarified. So, it’s not surprising that keywords, date range, custodian and file type filters don’t deliver the expected results.
  • It’s complicated and costly to go back to ‘dip into the data well’ again once the review is underway to change your early culling criteria e.g. when new facts emerge, new issues come to light or lawyers change their minds about search terms.

The EDT approach

End-to-End Case Management

By comparison, with EDT you ingest your data once, and only once. Then it stays put, throughout the whole case. There's no need to move it.    You can process, analyze, review, produce and present your data and you can do all these things in any sequence and at any time. We think that's a better approach because it supports real world scenarios, which are rarely linear.

  • Dramatically reduced costs as there are no transaction or volume based fees

  • Simple to manage data throughout the case as there is no need to move data

  • Produce load files for any third-party review platform at any time

  • Indepth early analysis is available as soon as your data ingestion has commenced

  • No need to wait for data processing to be completed before commencing your analysis

  • It’s easy to change culling filters and to iterate back and forward, assessing the impact of various filter options before applying them to your dataset, drilling down into documents, running budget calculators and investigating the data volume impacts

  • If you need to change culling criteria after documents have been promoted for review, it’s simple & quick to ‘dip back into the well’ at no cost

Simple Subscription Fees

EDT subscription based pricing is affordable, transparent and fair.   There are no hosting charges. No user fees. No processing charges. No processing core based charges. Just one simple annual or monthly fee.

Why should you pay more just because you process a lot of data or have a lot of users? It’s no additional cost for us if you decide to push a lot of data through our software, so, knock yourself out!

What if you've already invested in a review platform?

If you've already invested in a review platform like Relativity or Ringtail you can simply use EDT for processing (data ingestion) and early case assessment (ECA) and then create a load file containing export data in a format suited to your target review platform.

Why bloat your review platform with irrelevant data? Particularly, if you're paying per gigabyte for hosting!  Using EDT for processing and ECA enables you to confidently cull your data before importing it into your third party review platform to dramatically reduce costs.
